What the notes cover

  • Low endKick and bass: do they fight, is there mud, does it hold up on small speakers.
  • BalanceWhich parts are too loud or buried, and the vocal or lead against the rest.
  • StereoWidth, mono compatibility, and what should sit in the middle.
  • DynamicsPunch, over-compression, and whether the drop lands harder than the build.
  • LoudnessWhere the mix sits now and how much room it leaves for mastering.
  • The three fixesWhat to change first, in order, so you know where to start.

Questions

What do I get back?

An email with written notes on low end, balance, stereo width, dynamics and loudness, each with what to change and roughly how much. It ends with the three fixes that will make the biggest difference.

How fast?

Within 48 hours of your upload, usually sooner.

Which file should I send?

A bounce of the whole track as WAV, AIFF or MP3, the way it sounds now. Tell us if there is a limiter on the master.

Who listens?

The same engineer who does our mixing and mastering.

What if I want it mastered after?

Send it to mastering when you have made the changes. The notes tell you what to fix first, so the master has more to work with.
