Seed synth

A track starter in your browser. Pick a key and a tempo, or leave them open, and New seed writes a loop: lead, chords, bass and a beat. One knob shapes each sound. Go back to any seed, write a new part for one layer, and take it with you as MIDI or WAV.

Questions

How does the seed synth work?

Every sound is a set of genes: waveform and spectrum (from sine and saw to narrow pulse, formant and bell), layers an octave up and down and a fifth above, a filter that can be lowpass, bandpass or highpass, a comb filter, vowel, phaser, FM, movement, space, and saturation that goes from warm to hard, folded or bit-crushed, plus attack, release and register. One knob controls all of it. Turn it, and the sound moves between nineteen characters: Clean, Bright, Brass, Neon, Titan, Sci-fi, Acid, Warm, Air, Glass, Grit, Fold, Crush, Metal, Hollow, Horn, Growl, Cosmos and Supersaw. The further you turn, the more of the character comes in. Leads and chords are stacked from a few voices tuned a hair apart, which makes them wide and full; the pitch itself never bends out of key.

What does New seed do?

It writes a loop in the key and tempo you pick, or picks them for you if you leave them on Any. The style changes from seed to seed, from synthwave and deep house to cinematic, techno, ambient and lo-fi. You get a lead, chords, a bass and a beat that fit together, two or four chords with one chord per bar. Every seed is checked before you hear it, and seeds that would sound empty or awkward are skipped. The arrows next to New seed take you back and forward through the seeds you have had, and New lead, New chords or New bass writes a new part for one layer only.

Can I export audio?

Yes. WAV · all gives the synth layers as audio, exactly as you hear them, two rounds of the progression. WAV · lead (or the layer you have open) gives just that part. The drums are not included; they are the samples from RAW POWER.

How much does the knob do?

Everything. Turning it moves the layer you have open between fifteen characters, and the space, the movement and the brightness of the sound move with it, each in its own wave around the circle. Every sound has its own map, so turning the same way on two sounds gives two different journeys, and every position is kept clean.

Can I export MIDI?

Yes. MIDI · all gives one file with a track per layer, four bars in the preset's key and tempo, ready to drop into any DAW. MIDI · lead (or the layer you have open) gives just that part.

Can it make cinematic brass?

Yes. Turn towards Neon for slow, swelling synth brass with a huge room, or towards Titan for deep, heavy brass with sub and a fifth. Between Brass, Neon and Sci-fi lies most of the cyberpunk range.

Does it ever go out of tune?

No. Nothing is detuned. The fullness comes from layers an octave apart and a pure fifth, the width from panning and a ping-pong echo, and the movement works on the filter, not the pitch.

Can I make a track and use it with drums?

Yes. Draw notes on the grid under the dome; drag across squares for long notes. Press Drums to hear it over a beat, or Send to the drum machine to open it there as its own layer, in time with the beat. A shared beat link keeps the synth track.

Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and no plugin.

Can I save a sound?

Press Share sound. The link holds the sound and the track, so it opens exactly as you left it, on any device.
