How D Phrygian sounds

A minor scale with a lowered 2nd. The half step above the root gives it a dark, tense, Spanish flavour.

Used in: Techno, dark minimal, metal and flamenco.

Same notes, different root: Bb major, G minor, C Dorian, Eb Lydian, F Mixolydian.

For the low end: the root of D Phrygian is D and the fifth is A. A kick or 808 tuned to one of them sits with the bass; the kick drum tuning chart has the frequencies.
