Tips for guitar
Chords or Melody?
Strummed and picked chords need Chords, which finds several notes at the same time. A riff or a solo where one string rings at a time comes out cleaner with Melody.
Record it dry
A DI signal or a clean amp converts best. Distortion adds overtones that can read as extra notes, and long reverb and delay tails turn into repeated notes. Keep Remove echoes on if the recording has them.
Strums and fast picking
A fast strum hits the strings a few milliseconds apart, so the notes of one chord can start slightly out of line. Raise Shortest note to drop the small bits between strums, and quantize the MIDI in your DAW if you want the chords on the grid.
Bends, slides and vibrato
MIDI notes have one pitch each, so a bend comes out as the start note, the target note, or both. Lower the sensitivity if a slide leaves a trail of short notes.
A full song? Split it into vocals, drums, bass and instruments first with the stem separator, and get MIDI for each part.
Note detection uses Basic Pitch by Spotify (Apache License 2.0). The beat uses the drums from RAW POWER.

Questions
Can I convert guitar chords to MIDI?
Yes. Choose Chords and the converter finds the notes of each chord, from open chords and power chords to arpeggios. Play the MIDI on top of the guitar to check it before you download.
Do I need a MIDI pickup or a guitar synth?
No. This works on a normal audio recording of the guitar, from a DI, an amp mic or a phone. A MIDI pickup tracks while you play; this converts afterwards.
Does it work on acoustic guitar?
Yes. Acoustic guitar converts well when it is recorded close and without much room sound. Body resonance can add a few low extra notes, which Sensitivity and Shortest note clean up.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The file is decoded and converted in your browser and never leaves your computer or phone.
